I began my morning at work lightening a candle and praying; a call from my friends at the Slate Project. I love that together we can gather and hold each other in the midst of today. I don't know about you, but for me, there is peace in knowing that we are in this together. Today comes with so much. What if the candidate we choose doesn't get elected? What if they do? What will this mean for future generations? (My friend JC wrote an awesome post for the Slate Project. You can read that HERE!)
For me, I keep coming back to the words from Micah 6:8 where we are "called to do justice, love kindness/mercy and walk humbly with our God." That is my hope and prayer for today and every day after.
Will you please join me in prayer? Good and Gracious God, today our country gathers for yet another election. This election season has been filled with much contention and fear. Yet we know that you tell us "Do not be afraid." Help us to fully trust in your word because "the grass withers, the flowers fade, but the Word of the Lord stands forever." Today especially when it seems that we are all divided. Help us to remember that we are not alone. We are in this together. Guide us as we seek to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. And teach us to always shower kindness and love on all your beloved children. In your name we pray. Amen!
Today I am linking up with Holly and Testimony Tuesday, Kelly and the RaRa Linkup, and Jennifer and Tell His Story.
