Friends to Share Life With

I am linking up for the Five Minute Friday. The FMF is hosted by Kate Motaung on her blog Heading Home. Today's prompt is "share"!

It started with Kara Tippetts, then Joey and Rory, and Sarah Frankl. They all let us in. In the midst of hardships, they still let us in and shared their lives with us. They shared in life and death. They shared with us in joy and sorrow. They have been a wonderful example of what it looks like to share in all of life.

Just last week, Joey breathed her last breathe. And they still let us in. They still shared with us in the midst of leaving this life for heaven. Even as he grieves, Rory and Indiana still share their lives with us. What an incredible witness to God's love! And Jason and Kara's family also share through Kara's blog.

I am so thankful for those that God has brought into my life to share life with. I am so thankful for my friends and family. I am incredibly thankful for my Write 31 days community. I am so blessed by the Five Minute Friday crew. We meet on Twitter every Thursday night and share in life. We talk about the latest news to chocolate to bacon and everything in between. We also share our prayer requests. We share in Andrew and his ordeal. We share in new babies and surgeries and stolen purses and new puppies and so much more.

Without this community and my friends and my family., it would be so much harder to live life; to know that there are inviduals who will pray and celebrate in life's joys but also mourn with you in life's trials and even deaths. We may not always agree on topics, but the thing is even though we sometimes disagree,  we can still be friends and share in life together.

Sharing in life with all of you reminds me so much of an amazing song by the Christian group Point of Grace titled "Circle of Friends." The chorus goes: "In a circle of friends, we have one Father; in a circle of friends, we share this prayer; that every orphan soul will know; and all will enter in to the shelter of this circle of friends." These words capture so well the friends I have been blessed to share this life with.

Thanks for sharing life together, dear family and friends. I'm so glad we get to share life together!

  1. but I have no clue how to do the twitter party, though I always retweet my FMF post with relevant hashtags (it auto-tweets when I initially post); I have no clue what moves I need to make in order to get further involved.

    1. Leah, the Twitter party isn't so hard. I promise. Just put the #fmfparty hashtag in your search engine and it will bring up the conversation. You might not be able to see everyone if you aren't following them or you on Twitter. I wish I could show you in real life.

    2. I've been doing that for months now, but I do not know how to actually participate and become part to the party, if that makes any sense?

    3. Tweet something out like Hello #fmfparty. I will try to remember to tag you tonight and join you in the party.

  3. I'm so glad for the fact that I get to share life with you, my sweet friend! God definitely knew what He was doing when He nudged me to share my story of depression and mental illness in the Write 31 Days community. If I hadn't followed His leading to share that, we'd never have met. Love you, sweet friend!

    1. So much truth in that statement. Thankful we both felt the nudge and participated in the Write 31 Days community or our paths may have NEVER crossed! I am so thankful that our paths did cross though. Love you right back, dear friend!

  4. Tara, these are great words. Before my husband and I settled in a church home - still bouncing around for years after college and stumbling into parenthood - we had no one to share life with. We had each other and that all good and well, but it lacked in ways we could have never imagined until we found a community of people to do life with. SHARE life with. ...now that I think about it, I'm not so sure that "share" isn't one of my favorite words now. Loving this prompt!

Thank you for visiting today, as well!

    1. Thanks Jennifer! It is so hard when you are in a new place trying to find new people to share life with. I remember that feeling well. I think "share" may be one of my new fave words too!!! Thanks for stopping by. And glad I got to visit you too!

  5. Love, love, love, Tara! I just finished Kara's latest book, And It Was Beautiful...and it was. Sarah's story and Choose Joy, I could relate to on so many levels. Though not terminal, yet similar. I loved it as well. Rory and Joey's story I followed on Facebook. Seems we have similar tastes, Friend. A shared cocoa would be such a treat!

    1. Thanks Tammy! Kara's books are on my "to read" pile. I also need to add "Choose Joy" to that pile as well. A shared cocoa would be indeed such a treat. XO

  6. Tara, thank you for sharing your heart here. It's always a pleasure to pop over and read your words and to see you on my blog as well. I feel blessed to 'know' you in cyberspace and link arms across the pond. We learn so much from those who share their lives with such transparency, like the people you mention, and feel connected in our shared humanity. Xox <3

  10. I think that's what's so amazing about blogging & social media - that we are able to share our lives. Lives we otherwise wouldn't have known. From the incredible and touching to the beautifully mundane, I love that connection.

  11. What a beautiful post Tara. I admit, it's hard for me to share with those that are facing death. I couldn't follow Kara at the end or Joey and Rory. It was just too much for me to handle. I prayed, but just couldn't read. I don't know why, but Andrew and Barbara are different...so far...there may come a time; but for now I keep reading. I love the blogging communities I've been a part of over the years.

  13. Tara, I love that God created people to share life together. And I'm thrilled He allowed our paths to cross! I am loving getting to know you better through Thursday nights and your blog.

And to have people share how they move through life struggles toward death (like Kara, Joey and Rory), their transparency inspires me to want to live well.

As we share with each other, we encourage and spur each other on in this life. I can't imagine doing life alone. Thanks for the reminder of all the good that can come from sharing with each other. :)
